Waverley Sports Precinct

Waverley City Council provides open space areas within the community, including Netball courts adjacent to Council headquarters as part of the Waverley sports precinct.

The Netball courts are heavily used by local schools and teams year-round. The adjacent turf areas are utilised by spectators and teams waiting to play. The area has a gradual slope and has been re-turfed twice yearly with frequent deterioration back to a sand/soil base causing closure to this area.

Waverley City Council tendered out this project as part of a bigger scope of works, with CoverLawn specified as the solution for this area. CoverLawn was then installed after the grow-in period. CoverLawn now protects the natural turf, alleviating the bare and muddy patches, creating a safe stable natural grass area year-round.

CoverLawn is maintained by the council’s service provider, with the same practices as natural turf. CoverLawn provides the best of both world’s – Natural Grass combined with synthetics.
